Large wooden posts are sunk into the ground but stand high enough to carry the roof. The wooden frame gives it both flexibility and stability, while the one-storey high stone wall is less likely to collapse. The Bahay na Bato was constructed out of brick and stone rather than the traditional bamboo materials. In general, the bahay na bato may be described as a house with wooden legs and a stone skirt, a style of construction which makes the house a sure survivor of earthquakes. The most obvious difference between the two houses would be the materials that were used to build them. The Bahay na Bato, originates from the Bahay Kubo, since it typically followed its arrangements such as open ventilation and elevated apartments. Philippine Ancestral House, traditionally called Bahay Na Bato, is the fusion of native Filipino, Spanish and Chinese influences. The Spanish colonial era gave birth to the constructions of the bahay na bato and eventually became a status symbol for noble Filipinos (the principalia and the ilustrados). First I want to define a Bahay na bato, according to the book. You will see it it is made of stone and concrete walls that make the place be beautiful. I remember when I was a child i think i am 8 or 10 years old, we went to the Intramuros Manila for an educational tour.Intramuros Manila also known as “Walled City”.I see the Fort santiago I remember the place was so great you will feel comfortable because when you go there walking inside it is very relaxing and also because of the unique designs of Intramuros. The second type of early house here in the Philippines are the Bahay na Bato or an old house. There are many bahay na bato here in Philippines like in Intramuros Manila, also in Vigan City, and many others. This are the pictures of Bahay Kubo here in the Philippines. We rarely see Bahay Kubo here unlike in provinces. Bahay kubo still exist today and now serve as an historical landmark on what the Philippines look like during the early times. Likewise, some huts have an open back porch or batalan where household chores are done and where the jars of water are placed. Bahay Kubo is one of the very unique house design during the early houses here in the Philippines and it is a trademark for the Filipinos. Another feature of the the bahay kubo is ladder or hagdan which can easily be removed at night or when the owners are out. The windows have tukod or “legs” that hold the swinging shades open during the day, and secure it back in place at night. The walls are made of nipa and cogon leaves or sawali or woven bamboo, and there are large windows on all sides, which keep the interior well-ventilated. This area serves as the area for livestock pens, storage space, workspace and granary. It has a cellar, called silong where most household chores are done. A typical bahay kubo only has one, large, open, multi-purpose room for dwelling, called bulwagan. Raising the interior from the ground safeguards the shelter’s inhabitants from flood, and from snakes and other wild animals.According to the book I’ve read. ![]() It is normally cubic in shape, this shelter is raised on stilts or posts of one to two meters depending on the area where the said shelter is constructed it may be on solid ground, on a hillside or mountainside, or in shallow water. It is constructed of indigenous materials that can easily be found in their local surroundings like wood, planks, grass, bamboo and large logs. It is made of indigenous building materials like bamboo and nipa, it was constructed to perfectly adapt to the tropical climate of the Philippines and to be easily repaired or rebuilt once damaged by typhoon, flood or earthquake which frequented the country. According to the book i read Bahay kubo is the native house of the Philippines and is also considered as its national shelter also known as Nipa Hut. One of the type of house that exclusively made is the Bahay Kubo. There are the two types of early houses in the Philippines the Bahay Kubo and Bahay na bato. In the early history, the early people made their houses or a shelter. In this world many houses are built, different houses are made but some are the same. House is a structure intended or used as a habitation or shelter for any kinds of animals but especially a building or edifice for the habitation of man. ![]() All people in this world needs a shelter or a house.First I want to define a house.
